Northwest Boychoir

The Northwest Boychoir’s musical sophistication, rich tonal quality and dedication to perfection have established its reputation as one of the nation’s pre­mier children’s choirs. Along with Vocalpoint! Seattle (a vocal ensemble made up of high school-age young adults whose focus is contemporary music), the Northwest Boychoir has trained thousands of young singers for nearly 50 years, and more significantly, shaped the lives of our region’s youth by teaching important lessons in personal commitment and the value of teamwork. Singers ages 6 to 18 are trained to be fully skilled musicians who sing at the highest professional level, read music fluently and perform in professional settings with confidence. Currently led by Jacob Winkler, the Choir has maintained a close working relationship with the Seattle Symphony for the past three decades. Recent performances include Tan Dun’s Buddha Passion, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Stravinsky’s Perséphone and Debussy’s Nocturnes. The Northwest Boychoir is featured on the Seattle Symphony’s 2017 recording of works by French composer Olivier Messiaen, and joined with the Symphony to record Samuel Jones’ children’s fable, The Shoe Bird, nominated for a Grammy in 2009. Along with a very active performance schedule, the Northwest Boychoir serves as the official “Singing Ambassadors” of Washington.
