Community Connections Partner: Southwest Youth and Family Services

For nearly 40 years, Southwest Youth and Family Services (SWYFS) has opened its doors to anyone seeking support and empowerment in the community. The nonprofit prides itself in offering integrated, individualized services spanning behavioral health, education, family advocacy and youth development. At its heart are six SWYFS Community Resource Centers (CRCs), strategically located within a local network. These CRCs serve as the hub of the organization’s efforts, providing entry points for individuals and families to access the full spectrum of programs and resources. Whether it’s addressing behavioral health needs, navigating educational opportunities, advocating for families or fostering youth development, SWYFS’s CRCs are equipped to meet diverse needs with care and expertise. 

Every day, the organization’s programs yield successes — from impactful community-wide events to the subtle yet profound transformations witnessed in individuals. SWYFS believes that change, no matter how grand or nuanced, is a testament to the effectiveness of its approach and the dedication of its team. A word from the organization: “Southwest Youth and Family Services has partnered with the Seattle Symphony for many years, spanning multiple programs and services. This partnership has provided access to so many of our families and we are very grateful. Due to this partnership, our youth have received free arts enrichment programming, learned to play the recorder (and received a recorder to keep!), and families have attended the symphony. One participant attended the symphony with free tickets from this partnership. She noted that they enjoyed it because this performance incorporated Latin culture into the music and was also bilingual. She told her children that she listened to that music when she was little, and they danced and laughed together. Having affordable access to culturally relevant events like the symphony has helped our clients build community, enjoy time with their families and learn new things! Thank you, Seattle Symphony!”
