We will accept applications from pre-college youth ages 18 and under who live in any of the following states at the time of submitting their application: Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Alaska, Montana or Wyoming.

February 1, 2027 - Application Deadline

February 19, 2027 - Applicants notified of pre-screening results

March 20, 2027 - Live Audition at Benaroya Hall (Downtown Seattle)

The Young Artist Auditions will be divided into four divisions. Up to four instrumentalists, for each division will be invited to a live audition at Benaroya Hall on Saturday, March 20, 2027.

Winners will be selected from the divisions to perform a concerto with the Seattle Symphony in a Family Concert or Community Concert in the 2027/2028 season.

Divisions:

• Winds, brass, percussion and harp

• Upper strings (violin and viola)

• Lower strings (cello and bass)

• Piano

Pre-screening: Applicants can perform any repertoire of their choice (5–10 minutes of music). This could be the same as their live audition repertoire or a different piece of the applicant’s choosing. Piano accompaniment preferred but not required.

Live Audition: Instrumentalists who are invited to the live audition may perform any piece for solo instrument with orchestra (5–10 minutes of music). Piano accompaniment is required for the live audition; applicants must provide their own pianist.

Note: While applicants are welcome to select a piece of their choosing this season, applicants for next season’s auditions (occurring in 2027/2028) will be required to select audition pieces from our recommended repertoire list.

Please have the following materials prepared when applying:

• A URL to video recording of a 5 to 10-minute piece performed by the applicant with piano accompaniment (on applicant’s website, YouTube, SoundCloud, etc.). The webpage must include the applicant’s name and the title of the piece.

• A high-resolution headshot of the applicant in jpg or png format (600 pixels or higher). The file must be formatted as APPLICANT LAST NAME, FIRST NAME YAA 2027 HEADSHOT

• A 150 word biography of the applicant

• A list of prepared concerto repertoire or other works for solo instrument and orchestra. Winners may be invited to perform a selection from this list (likely a single movement) as the piece they perform with the Seattle Symphony the following season.
