Horn
Jenna Breen has been a member of the Seattle Symphony since 2016. The Australian horn player began her musical education on flute at age 9, switching to her now-preferred instrument, the horn, a year later. Throughout her school years, she developed her love for music participating in various youth and community ensembles and always wanted to pursue a career in this field.
After high school, Breen earned an academic scholarship to the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, where she studied with Peter Luff. During her time there she also received the Kurt Blumenthal Music Scholarship and the Yvonne Haysom Women in Music Bursary. Breen moved to Melbourne in 2009 to pursue additional training at the Australian National Academy of Music. In 2014, she was awarded a Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Fellowship to study with some of the best low horn players across the globe, visiting Berlin, Chicago, London, Los Angeles, New York and Philadelphia.
Since completing her studies, Breen has held permanent positions with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and the Seattle Symphony. She has also worked with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Queensland, Adelaide and New Zealand symphony orchestras, the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Australian Chamber Orchestra and the Australian World Orchestra.
In her spare time, Breen enjoys traveling, spending time with her dog and flying single-engine airplanes around the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
