Seattle Philharmonic Orchestra Presents: "Demons, Vampires, Witches": A Philharmonic Halloween

The Seattle Philharmonic presents a concert celebrating Halloween in all its spine-tingling glory. Orchestral favorites include Camille Saint-Saëns Danse macabre, Rimsky-Korsakov’s Flight of the Bumblebee, and the Barcarolle from Jacques Off enbach’s opera The Tales of Hoff mann. Soprano Elizabreth Galafa Ylaya lends her bewitching voice to creepy songs and arias by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Franz Schubert, and Heinrich Marschner (from his opera The Vampire). The concert will also feature two U.S. premieres by composers Salina Fisher (Galaxy) and Maria Grenfell (Stealing Tutunui). Finally, the Philharmonic is honored to present the world premiere of the Henry Russell’s complete score to the fi lm Five, a forgotten gem from 1951, newly reconstructed and edited by Adam Stern. The composer’s daughter will be on hand to give the premiere her blessing.
